The only way to judge whether a commercially-packaged food is peanut or
nut-free is to thoroughly read the label every time.
Foods That Are Obviously Not Safe
Anything that clearly contains nuts or peanuts, peanut or nut butters,
peanut or nut oils, peanut flour, ground peanuts or ground nuts.
This includes peanut butter crackers, trail mix, Cracker Jack, anything
with M&Ms (the plain ones contain peanut, too!), certain cereals,
and obvious brand names such as "Reese's", "Planters"
or "Skippy".
Foods That Should Raise Red Flags - Check Ingredient
Labels!
Granola bars, rice cakes, "sandwich" crackers (even the
cheese varieties usually contain peanut butter), baked goods, snack
foods (particularly "gourmet" pretzel brands with peanut-butter
filled varieties), cookies, crackers, ice creams, and candies.
Foods That Usually Don't Have To Be Questioned
Cheese products such as cheese sticks/bars/slices, cream cheese
or cottage cheese, yogurts (check mix-ins such as granola), Go-gurts
and yogurt shakes, soy yogurts and cheeses, fresh or canned fruit
and vegetables, apple sauce, fruit cups, pudding cups, jello, hard-boiled
egg, sandwich meats, tofu.
Convenience Foods That Are Usually Okay (But Still
Check Labels)

allergy info)
